Join us in welcoming Mike Amezcua, author of Making Mexican Chicago.

Mike Amezcua is a scholar, writer, and teacher of History and Latinx Studies.

​He is the author of Making Mexican Chicago: From Postwar Settlement to the Age of Gentrification, published by the University of Chicago Press as part of the series, Historical Studies of Urban America. His writing has appeared in The Journal of American History, Journal of Social History, The Sixties, as well as op-eds and commentaries in The Washington Post, Teen Vogue, and Chicago Sun-Times. In 2021, he was named a Mellon Emerging Faculty Leader by the Institute for Citizens & Scholars (formerly the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation).

He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Georgetown University and lives in Washington, DC.
